A rare community cookbook produced by the Ladies' Aid Society, likely issued as a fundraiser to support church expenses. The sponsoring institution, The St. James Episcopal Church of Groveland, Massachusetts (Washington Street), was built by mill owner and philanthropist Ezekiel James Madison Hale. Recipes include traditional sweets such as boiled sweets, caramels, fudge, and taffy. The volume features numerous local advertisements from businesses in Groveland, South Groveland, and nearby Haverhill representing insurance companies, hardware and jewelry stores, a house painter, dry goods merchants, an apothecary, and a Brooks Brothers Dry Goods - Cloaks & Carpet Store. Printed by The Chase Press, established in 1876. Interior toned with a couple of closed tears. Covers soiled and toned with closed tear to cover. Not found in OCLC or anywhere on the internet 2/2026.
