Redwood Falls, Minnesota: James T. Crosby & Sons, 1930-31. Leather_bound. 32 pages (manuscript entries). 12 x 6.5 cm. Repurposed lined booklet originally issued for the 1930–31 livestock commission year, later used by a homemaker to record her personal recipe collection. Handwritten entries include Parker House Rolls, Nut Bread, Baking Powder Biscuits, Date Cake, Oatmeal Macaroons, Salted Peanuts, Kidney Bean Salad, Pineapple Surprise, Divinity, among others.
A revealing domestic artifact, with a list at the rear noting names—possibly employees or community members—alongside amounts owed, enabling identification of the writer’s locality. The opening pages retain printed livestock company information listing Cattle, Hog, and Sheep Salesmen. Bound in rubbed blue calf; interior shows staining but remains sound. A charming intersection of agricultural commerce and home cookery. Blue calf. Good. Item #4703
