Originally published in 1782, the book rapidly spread as the most practical guide at improving the management, breeding, and health of sheep and other flock animals. Daubenton (1716-1799), a famous naturalist and anatomist', sets out the best practices for improving the breeding of sheep, and in particular of the Merino breed - bringing the quality of French wool to reach the highest level of Spanish wool - helping to improve French manufacturing.
