Chicago: ALBERT PICK HOTELS, c. 1940. Beginning in the late 1930's, the Albert Pick Hotel chain began introducing Purple Cow Sandwich & Coffee Shops on the street level near the hotel lobbies entrances. Open 24 hours, the Purple Cow offered consistent quality at affordable prices. The menu includes a Gigantic Frankfurter Plate, the Jumbo Hamburger Sandwich, Health Juices (Tomato, Grapefruit, Sauerkraut, Pineapple, Orange, & Prune), Omelettes, Pork Chops, Corned Beef Hash, Sandwiches, Salads, & Deserts & Special Evening Dinners Monday-Sunday. Almost everything in the restaurant was adorned with a purple cow and the celebrated jingles where known to all. Toning and creased to the covers, interior clean. Cream illustrated cards. Good.
