Around the age of eighteen, Harriett Shaw repurposed the booklet to create her own personal recipe collection. She begins with detailed instructions for both Sweet Pickles and Sour Pickles, followed by an especially appealing recipe for “Tutti Frutti”—a preserve made from rhubarb, oranges, raisins, pineapple, and strawberries. Additional recipes include Sour Cream Biscuits, Ripe Tomato Cold Pickles, Gingerbread, Peanut Butter Spread, and more.
