[HANDMADE] [COOKBOOK] Collage based Cookbook
Sacramento, CA: 1943. Cardboard covers. 80 pages. 21 x 17 cm. Made during World War II, this artistically inspired homemade cookbook featured cutouts of the Campbell Soup Kids as well as many other commercially produced ingredients. Our author scoured her magazines, newspapers, and journals to create a well proportioned and visually entertaining book. Large color cut-out photos are paired with the corresponding recipes along with the charming Campbell Soup Kids, dressed in various costumes. Other food manufacturing companies highlighted here are: None Such Mince Meat, Snider's Catsup, Cox's Instant Powdered Gelatine, Crisco, Sun-Maid Raisins, Karo Syrup, Argo Corn Starch, Minute Tapioca, Skinner's Macaroni, Post's Bran Flakes, and many more. Laid in: newspaper clippings from the Sacramento Bee and a large pamphlet, THE KITCHEN FRONT by Katherine Kitchen from the Sacramento Bee and Station KFBK - recipes discuss the use of honey as a sweetner in place of rationed sugar. Black cardboard covers. Very good. Item #4545
