Mapleine, an imitation maple flavoring originally produced by Seattle's Crescent Manufacturing Company in 1905 is a vegetable extract made from roots and herbs, designed to provide a maple-like flavor without having to use pricey maple syrup. Instructions for making syrup and maple sugar are provided along with many recipes. Laid in - two grocery store receipt slips from JOHN KLINGER Choice Groceries located in Lawrence, Massachusetts used to write recipes on them. Pamphlet lightly toned where receipts were stored.
