[COMMUNITY COOKBOOK] [WOMEN] [MANUSCRIPT] Virginia Cookery Book; Traditional Recipes
Richmond, Virginia: Virginia League of Women Voters, 1921. First Edition. Hardcover. 192 pages. 23 x 15.5 cm. Recipes attributed to members of the community with local advertisements giving the reader a genuine feel for the community. This particular copy is what we call "heavily annotated" - the owner of this cookbook USED this book, adding hand written recipes in the margins, pasting in hand written recipes on top of advertisements, with over 25 recipes laid in. This was a truly loved book - with many stains - a one of a kind item. The Virginia League of Women Voters (VLWV) was organized to succeed the Equal Suffrage League (ESL) in 1920. By October 1920, more than 13,000 Richmond women, including 10,645 white women and 2,410 black women, had registered to vote in the November presidential election. Hinges cracked but holding. [BROWN 4297]. Cream illustrated boards. Poor. Item #4453
