Ithaca: Moosewood, 1974. First Edition - second printing. Spiral bound wraps. 79 pages. 28 x 22.5 cm. An iconic cookbook that put the "Veggie Nation" on the map. Compiled, Edited, Illustrated and Hand-Lettered by Mollie Katzen with Nancy McCauley, Judith M. Barringer, Kathy Morris, Meredith Barchat, Phyllis Boudreau, and Susan B. Lent. This cookbook was recently highlighted in the New York Times - T Magazine article "The 25 Most Influential Cookbooks From the Last 100 Years" (11/17/24). Originating out of a looseleaf binder filled with recipes, Mollie Katzen and friends established the now famous eating spot in Ithaca, with little cooking experience by the collective members. This edition is printed on both sides of the paper and includes page numbers that are typed - which indicates it is the second printing. The first printing is printed only on one side of the page and the page numbers are hand written. The collective printed these copies on a copy machine before it was picked up by Ten Speed Press. Black and white photos and illustrations. Cover is soiled with "10c" written on the cover. Interior is stained - this book was used, as prescribed. Cream illustrated wraps, brown plastic combs.
