Pittsfield, MA: 1941 - 1947. Spiral bound. 35 pages 25 x 20 cm. 24 pages written. This book is something that most people of this day and age would not recognize - a pre-made rating book for women to record how, when, and where they met a particular date - what type of military service they had joined, along with a photo and a full page ready and waiting for the description of each date, where they went, whom they saw, and what she wore. Mary Therese Walsh made good use of this pre-made "Dating/Rating" book from 1941 through 1947. Each page includes a dates Name, Address, Phone Number, Nickname, Age, Birthday, Where we met, When we met - His Height, Weight, Hair, Eye Color & Dating Rating - Spending Habits, Dancing Ability, Hobbies, School, Job, Fraternity, Prospects, How they Dress, Conversational Ability, Automobile, Social Instincts (Wolf or Lamb), Military Service, How he Makes Me Feel, and To Sum It All Up. Wowza, imagine if you were a young man back in the day, a really descent person but you just couldn't dance and didn't have a car? What is so special about this book is there is a picture of each guy and from our research, Mary Therese ended up marrying one of these guys years later after he returned from service. Yes, John J. Anderson was her husband although they only had 15 years together before he died. Mary Therese went on to marry another man but in her obituary it mentions her favorite place in the world - it was the lake where so many years earlier she had met her first husband (Plunkett Lake, MA). Some pages are not attached to the sprial binding but still intact. Tan textured paper covered boards, red plastic spiral binding. Good. Item #4433
