[ENTERTAINMENT] [PROGRAM] THE WORLD FAMOUS LATIN QUARTER NEW YORK; "THE VENUS TOUCH'
New York: 1963. Wraps. 26 X 19.5 cm. The Latin Quarter, located on Broadway at 48th Street originally opened up in the early 1900s as the Palais Royal, and later renamed Cotton Club in 1936. It wasn't until renowned nightclub promoter Lou Walters, father of television royalty, Barbara Walters, took over the club in 1942 and rebranded it, The Latin Quarter, that this Cabaret took off. This particular evening's Program boasted Eight Acts along with a finale. As LIFE magazine reported in 1949, featured were "pretty girls who display as much flesh and as little covering as the law allows." Music for the show and dancing was provided by Jo Lombardi and Irving Fields Orchestra. Reading through the Program it is obvious that there was no such thing as political correctness as one of the acts calls for "The Scarlet Slaves" and Act seven features "The Kim Sisters" - the "Oriental Stars of TV". Illustrated on the cover and the interior. Heavily creased, otherwise clean. Color illustrated wraps. Good. Item #4346
Price: $45.00
