[RACIST] [MENU] Welcome to... Daley's; "Where Steaks Sizzle"
Richmond, Va. 1936. Cards. 33 x 13.5 cm. Large fold-out menu featuring the image of Alfred E. Neuman or the "What me Worry?" image on the cover. Hiding in plain sight within the folds of this menu are incredibly racist language disguised as cheeky humor. The "No. 8" - Why Yankees Come South - $1.10, World Famous Virginia Smithfield ham. Fed on Peanuts and Acorns. (We use only the left ham. Ask your waiter about this.) Two years in the curing with apple and hickory wood. Tender, loving hands of the old-time Southern Darkies baked this ham in true Southern style for you. Another example: "No. 14" - Spaghetti Gone Black Face - 55c. (Apologies to Mussolini). Daley's Chefs do things to this Spaghetti that would make Mussolini do a little dictating right here instead of Africa. Generous Portion. 2 Tasty Meat Balls. Parmasello Cheese. Pasted in, a Specials Menu. Laid in, a breakfast menu. Lightly soiled. Yellow illustrated textured cards. Very good. Item #4245
