East Seal Beach, California: c. 1940's. Cards. 27.5 x 18.5 cm. A fun, fold-out menu featuring the HUGE array of fish that was served at Sam's including: Caviar, Shrimp, Crab, Lobster, Clams, Oysters, Halibut, Sea Scallops, and their famous Swordfish. Starting in 1923, Sam's was a staple of Southern California beach front dining. The Greek-immigrant brothers, Sam and George Arvanitis, began as a fish market and slowly evolved the Seal Beach spot into a popular dining spot. In 1959 Sam's Seafood burned to the ground. It was rebuilt but never the same. Stapled in are Sam's Special Dinners De Luxe. Folded sides of the menu feature Cocktails, Fizzes, After Dinner Drinks, Wines, Beer and Ale. Interior pristine, Covers lightly toned. Green illustrated cards. Very good. Item #4241
