YEAST FOAM - It's Many Uses
Northwestern Yeast Company, c. 1920. Loose_leaf. 12 x 26.5 cm. A beautiful color illustrated fold out pamphlet. In this campaign, Northwestern Yeast Company emphasized the ease of fast rising dry yeast, invented in the early years of W.W.I and popularized in the beginning of W.W.II, which set out to replace the existing need for live yeast cakes. Since it needed no refrigeration, it ensured bread could be made on demand. As food production was starting to be taken out of the home, yeast producers needed a way to sell more of their product and began to heavily advertise their product as an "Aid to Health". Yeast was one of many early products that was misrepresented and sold as a cure all. Here it peddled the therapeutic value for children, pets, and livestock. Also includes recipes for Root Beer, Bread, and Cinnamon Rolls. Lightly rubbed at edges, otherwise clean, Color illustrated fold out pamphlet. Item #4205
