San Francisco: The Union Lithograph Company, 1912. Cards. Located in the iconic Merchants Exchange Building, the San Francisco Commercial Club was the location where city leaders and businessmen met to socialize and address the issues of the day. Julia Morgan, the first licensed female architect in California and the first female architect to graduate from the École de Beaux-Arts in Paris was tapped to redesign and rebuild the damaged interior after the Great Earthquake and Fire of 1906. Two menus are features in this beautiful illustrated, shaped pamphlet. One menu, a Buffet, features Lobster Salad, Salmon Striped Bass, Langouste, Aspic de Foie Gras, Fillet of Beef, Goose, Truffled Turkey, and Suckling Pig. The established menu features Green Turtle soup, Sandabs, Virginia Ham, Larded Beef Tenderloin, Turkey, Pies, Fruit, and Cheese. Menu includes the original insert revealing the entertainment of the day. Cover illustration presents the R.J. Tyson, the outgoing President of the Club.
