[TRADE CATALOGUE] THE GOOD SAMARITAN COOKING STOVE; MANUFACTURE and For Sale to the Trade

Albany, NY: C. Van Benthuysen, 1859. Sewn binding. 31 pages. 16.5 x 10.5 cm. The Albany area became the world's leader in stove-making in the mid 1800's. With the proximity to the Hudson river, the abundance of iron ore in the mountains of New York State, and the access to high quality molding sand, all the favorable factors made this a hub for Cast Iron Stove making. This pre-civil war trade catalogue is illustrated throughout with an abundance of information and descriptions on how the stove worked. Also included are over 10 pages of testimonials. Front and back cover are water damaged with some staining from a rusted paper clip. Back cover states: SOLD BY TRIM & WATERBURY, SARATOGA SPRINGS. Back cover has closed tears to the spine - still holding. Blue illustrated wraps. Good. Item #3946
