[WOMEN] [FASHION DESIGN] Six Hand Drawn Haute Couture Designs
San Francisco: 1929. Dorothy Stransky (1895-1987) was born in Iowa and made her way to San Francisco as a young woman to become a fashion designer. In 1928 we find Dorothy, thanks to the California Voter Registration, in San Francisco working as a designer. In this collection, there are six hand drawn fashion renderings featuring women's haute couture. All of Dorothy's designs feature the popular flapper style that was indicative of the time - with a dropped waist, less fabric, and simplicity that had not previously been seen in women's fashion. Each design is professionally drafted, in pencil and what we believe to be gouache ink. Boards toned at edges with some rubbing and stains.
