[CHILDREN] Toy Stove
c. 1910. 18.5 x 10 x 7. Toy stoves became popular during the late 19th century. Thought of by parents that could afford such extravagance, as a practical purchase, one that could acclimate their daughters to future roles as housekeepers and caretakers. These "toys" were of course deadly. Made to be used with kerosene, these "toys" gave rise to many accidents, sometimes fatal. Production of these stoves ceased during W.W.II, as materials became scarce. This particular tin model, which was fueled by kerosene, has a interior stove feature an interior stove, five burners on the top of the stove a cup, four kerosene burners, and three implements to pull the various tops off the pots.
