Le Trésor de La Cuisine du Bassin Méditerranéen; par 70 Médecins de France - Offert par les LABORATOIRES DU Dr. ZIZINE

Chartres: Les Imprimeries Lainé et Tantet, c. 1937. Wraps. 127 pages. 22 x 16 cm. Title translation: The Treasure of the Cuisine of the Mediterranean Basin by 70 Doctors of France. A beautifully illustrated edition with each recipe elaborating on a bit of history and an attempt to reveal the origins of each dish. Illustrations by V. Le Campion. "Valentin Le Campion: A fine Art Deco era engraver and illustrator, Valentin Le Campion studied art techniques in his native Russia, under Favorsky and Alexis Kravtchenko. He moved to France around 1927 and settled permanently in the Paris suburb of Plessis-Robinson in 1933. Despite his short life Le Campion was commissioned to engrave many ex libris bookplates as well as illustrating a number of books including such classics as Swift's Gulliver in Lilliput, Defoe's Robinson Crusoe and Pushkin's The Captain's Daughter. His ex libris engravings, in particular, epitomize the both beautiful and powerful design elements of the Art Deco era." (Art of the Print - http://www.artoftheprint.com). Text in French. Interior clean and crisp, wraps lightly rubbed at edges. Orange illustrated wraps. Very good. Item #3532
