The Wine of Santa Cruz Island; With a foreword by Marla Daily, and illustrations and photographs from the collection of the Santa Cruz Island Foundation

Santa Barbara: The Santa Cruz Island Foundation, 1994. Hardcover. 101 pages. 23.5 x 15.5 cm. Limited Edition of 350 copies - 175 copies were printed for the Santa Cruz Island Foundation and Zamorano Club - as a keepsake on the occasion of the twenty-first biennial joint meeting of Roxburghe and Zamorano Clubs, October 8-9, 1994. Wine making lasted through six decades (1880-1930's) on the Santa Cruz Islands. After the Volstead Act instituted Prohibition, wine sales from Santa Cruz Island ceased. The Island grapes continued to be shipped to the mainland and sold through the local markets. By the mid 1930's the vines were removed - Today, no bottle of Santa Cruz Island wine is known to exist. Pristine condition, specially designed end-papers depict Santa Cruz Island Company sheep tokens. Gilt-stamped burgundy cloth covered boards. Fine. Item #2880
