[ART] PAPER SCULPTURES; PROVISIONS FOR THE AFTERLIFE

2019. ONE OF A KIND. New York's Chinatown has long had dedicated joss paper shops, and in the last decade many of them have expanded from traditional "hell money" into playful, hyper-modern spirit offerings - luxery brands, gadgets, and Western currencies reimagined for the afterlife. For Chinese and Chinese-American families, these papers remain integral to solemn rites such as funerals, ancestor birthdays, Qingming, and Ghost Month, where burning them signifies care, duty, and remembrance. Jenne's works reinterpret this living tradition through her own sculptural vision. Gampi paper, flashe, sign painters enamel, metal leaf. Fine. Item #1937

Price: $1,250.00
