[BEER] George Ehret's Hell Gate Brewing Co. Metal Serving Tray

c.1890. 42 x 35 cm. George Ehret launched his brewery in 1866. The name of the brewery - George Ehret's Hells Gate Brewery - originated from the location of the manufacturing facility adjacent to the dangerous waterway in the East river which was called Hell's Gate at the time. As improved operating procedures and updated brewing equipment were introduced, Ehret seized upon these new methods, and to his good fortune, was quickley rewarded with success - in two decades between 1871 and 1890 Erhet's brewery became one of the United States largest producers of lager.
