Chicago, IL: Jacques Manufacturing Co., 1935. Staplebound wraps. The Cook’s Book, a popular recipe book in the early 20th century, was printed by KC Baking Powder (now defunct) as an advertisement. Before its acquisition by Clabber Girl, KC Baking Powder was known for the slogan “Same price for over __ years,” which was embossed on the lids of the 25 cent cans, and was a powerful player in the baking powder wars. This book contains recipes from Janet McKenzie Hill, founder of the American Cookery magazine, as well as cooking tips and a short talk on baking powder. (45 pp. 19.5 x 12.5 cm.) Mild wear on corners, some small spots on cover, pencil markings on first page "1935, 30-- " Near fine condition. Brown wraps, embossed text and gilt title and seal on back, Very good. Item #3031
