Paris: Pellet, 1930. Wraps. 283 pages. 24 x 20 cm. Limited edition #157 of 250 copies. Frontispiece by Edouard Vuillard, 24 lithographs by Toulouse-Lautrec. This book, both a food memoir as well as a homage to the pleasures of life - refers to fellow gastronomic voyagers who came of age after the Franco-Prussian War and enjoyed forty years of peace. Some of these men who are cited are Dr. Noël Ballay, a French doctor, poet and explorer - Dr. Robert Wurtz, an Alsatian doctor and world traveler - and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Maurice Joyant was a lifelong friend of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, whom he met in 1872 and later organized the first retrospective of Lautrec's work in 1893. Original outer wraps professionally restored, hinges repaired. Interior clean and crisp. Large cream paper wrappers. Very good. Item #2936
