Sault St. Marie, Michigan: The Riverside Photo Gallery - Allan Fanjoy, c. 1897. Cards. 21.5 x 13.5 cm. Photo mounted on cabinet card with printed address and photo studio signature. Verso features promotional photo illustrations of Sault St. Marie as well as photo of the Proprietor, Allan Fanjoy. Featuring members of the Ojibwe people fishing - with plentiful whitefish in the rapids of Sault St. Marie, the area was a favored spot for trade and gatherings. Notably present in the photo, in the distance, is the International Railroad Bridge, erected in 1887. Allan Fanjoy, the photographer, was the owner of the Photo Gallery in Sault St. Marie from 1894 until 1897. Light toning and foxing to card, Photo mounted on stiff card stock. Very good. Item #2102
