[Cookery-Manuscript] Connecticut

Hardcover. Unpaginated. 30 x 19 cm. 1850 inscription on free end paper. Alphabetical Index with pasted in recipes. This large format, ephemera filled manuscript is a look back at New England in the mid 1800's. One of the pasted in pieces is "Miss Parloa's series began this morning" - The Hartford Evening Post, Jan. 31, 1888. Miss Parloa was a cookbook author and one of the first teachers at the Boston Cooking School. There is a treasure trove of unpasted clippings laid in as well as "The Manhattan Cook-Book pasted in, and hand written recipes laid in. Blue linen cloth reinforced spine. Approximately half of the book is unused. Boards chipped and rubbed with marbled edges. Deaccession stamp on verso of cover - Connecticut Historical Society.
