Stamford: c. 1915. Cardboard covers. 22 x 15.5 cm. 14 envelopes, 1 two-sided cardboard-weight title page, with a Forward on the reverse. Envelopes contain printed recipes (8 X 15 cm.) attributed to local authors along with personally collected recipes and handwritten recipes. Envelope headings: Soups, Fish, Meats, Poultry, Meat and Fish Sauces, Entrees, Eggs, Vegetables, Salads, Breads & Biscuits, Pastry and Cake, Frostings, Puddings, Etc., Ices and Sherbets, and Miscellaneous. Every printed recipe suggests the use of "Fleischmann's" yeast, along with a handful of suggestions for "Dromedary Brand Golden Dates and Date Nut Butter" and "Royal Baking Powder". Local advertisements adorn both front and flap of every envelope. Hygienic Societies were formed, to some extent, to limit the spread of communicable diseases, to repress prostitution, and the promotion of marriage/parenthood. With single OCLC record discovered (Kansas State University). Floral cloth covered boards, green string ties. Very good. Item #1990
