[MANUSCRIPT] [MEDICINE] Salmon Brushes Journal

Lamoille County, Vermont: 1830-37. Wraps. 19 x 16 cm. Holographic account book of Salmon Brush (1804-1887). Brush, listed as "Physician" in the 1850 Federal Census, attended, in 1832, Castleton Medical College, the first Medical School in Vermont. This account book is a combined record of treatments he administered to patients, a general log of his employee's labor, and a family economic ledger. Listed here are three of Salmon's brothers - Silas W., Orlen B., and Abner. Silas seems to have worked for a time for Salmon, and an accounting of "Pasturing" by family members indicates one of the primary uses of family land. Brush was also listed in the Federal Census as the U.S. Postmaster of Lamoille County from 1851-1854. Wraps chipped and worn. Orig. blue wraps. Good. Item #1583
