Each pamphlet is printed and hand painted with Margarita's personal narrative - memories of Russian Jewish immigrant parents and grandparents - woven into the cooking instructions. As an example, the Korzhiki (Nostalgic shortbread cookie): "This is all about the memories. Before you begin, think back to your early childhood. Think of those peaceful times, waiting on the bread and milk lines in your poor family village...A shortbread cookie is a simple nostalgic cookie which for decades has been popular in Russian canteens and school cafeterias."
