Disbursements are recorded by ship agents to inform the ship owners of all the charges the voyage accrues while in port. Expenses include portage, pilotage, boarding officer's fee, and goods purchased for crew - sugar, coffee, bread, black beans, and vegetables. Maxwell, Wright & Co. was the owner/shipping company that oversaw the operation in Rio, while N. & W. W. Billings is listed as the Managing owner or agent in Connecticut according to the Report of Commissioner of Fish and Fisheries. Text inked and elegantly penned.
