New York: Pynson Printers, 1924. Revised Edition. Hardcover. 38 pages. 16.5 x 13 cm. Copy 1286 of 1524. A fine 18th-century style reproduction. The "Squire" published twelve recipes for toddies in 1784. Years later, his descendant, Noble Foster Hoggson, found a cache of his letters and documents in the attic, among which were more recipes for homemade wines; the later Hoggson chose to honor his ancestor by publishing these recipes along with excerpts from the Squire's journal. In this version, the diary excerpts appear on page rectos, with brewing and wine-making recipes given on the versos. Watermarked paper with untrimmed edges, title page in red and black. Boards rubbed with spine missing, still holding. Interior clean. Blind-tooled paper-covered light boards. Good, in fair wraps. Item #3172
